Khumbarwada is a potters colony in Mumbai, India, and it happens to be in the largest slum area in the world. It consists of tightly packed living spaces, narrow alleyways and different workshops. While it is mainly a potters neighborhood, you can also see the evidence of natural leatherwork. The smoke from burning the fur off of the sheep hides fills the air and adds a certain filmic sense. The shops of leatherworkers and tailors are spread along the houses. A diverse base of religions and ages of people are all intrigued and welcoming of a visiting photographer.
